A Prayer for One's Enemies

Heaven Father, your Son commanded us to love our enemies, to pray for them,to respond to hatred with love.  We are aware of how difficult, indeed

impossible, this is for us without your grace.  I especially mention the following: [Here mention individuals or groups of people you should pray for, such as those who have harmed you; those who oppose you; those with whom you disagree; other racial groups, faiths, ethnic groups, political parties.]

 

I make an act of the will and I pray for each and every one of them and ask you, Father, to bless them. May the Holy Spirit come now into my heart and cast out all hatred, bitterness, and any desire for revenge.  May my heart be configured to the Sacred Heart of your Son Jesus- loving, forgiving, self-giving. May the Holy Spirit thus transform me and all into your likeness, so that one day we may come into the fullness of your Presence. Amen.
